Exploring Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Kazakhstan in just 9 days is an unforgettable adventure that blends ancient history, dramatic landscapes, and vibrant cultures into one seamless journey. From Uzbekistan’s timeless Silk Road cities of Samarkand and Bukhara, rich with majestic architecture and centuries-old stories, to Kyrgyzstan’s breath-taking mountain scenery, alpine lakes, and warm nomadic hospitality, every day feels like stepping into a new world.

The journey continues into Kazakhstan, where modern cities like Almaty sit against a backdrop of snow-capped peaks, vast steppes, and stunning canyons. Despite the diversity of experiences across three countries, the route is surprisingly well-connected, making it possible to experience the very best of Central Asia in a short yet deeply rewarding timeframe. Below is the itinerary of how this can be arranged in 9 Days/ 8 Nights.

Day 1: Tashkent (Uzbekistan)

1800H: Arrive in Tashkent.

2000H: Evening stroll around Amir Timur Square.

Overnight in Tashkent.

Day 2: Tashkent → Samarkand (Uzbekistan)

0800H: Take the high-speed bullet train to Samarkand (Train Travel requires 2 hrs).

1000H: Arrive Samarkand. Visit Registan Square, Gur-e-Amir Mausoleum, Bibi-Khanym Mosque. Explore Siab Bazaar.

Overnight in Samarkand.

Day 3: Samarkand → Bukhara → Tashkent (Uzbekistan)

0830H: Bullet train from Samarkand to Bukhara (Train Travel requires 1 hr 45 min).

1015H: Visit Lyabi-Hauz Ensemble, Poi Kalyan Minaret & Mosque, Ark Fortress.

1500H: Visit Chor Minor, Samanid Mausoleum.

1800H: Bullet train from Bukhara to Tashkent.

2208H: Arrive Tashkent.

Overnight in Tashkent.

Day 4: Tashkent (Uzbekistan)

Morning: Free & Easy. 

12pm: Visit Khast Imam Complex, Chorsu Bazaar, Independence Square & ride on Tashkent Metro system to explore the Soviet Union subway stations.

Overnight in Tashkent.

Day 5: Tashkent → Bishkek (Kyrgyzstan)

1100H: Fly to Bishkek (1 hr 10 min flight) on Centrum Air.

1310H: Arrive at Bishkek.

1400H: City tour of Bishkek includes visit to Ala-Too Square, Victory Monument & Oak park.

Overnight at Bishkek.

Day 6: Bishkek → Bokonbayevo (Kyrgyzstan)

0800H: Visit Ala-Archa national park.

1030H: Drive from Bishkek to Issyk-Kul Lake (≈5 hrs). Along the way, stop at Burana Tower. 

1600H: Arrive at Bokonbaevo Village. 

1700H: Have eagle hunting and dinner with eagle hunters.

Overnight at Bokonbayevo.

Day 7: Bokonbayevo → Issyk-Kul Lake → Karakol (Kyrgyzstan)

1000H: Depart from Bokonbayevo and travel towards Issyk -Kul Lake.

1030H: Visit Issyk -Kul Lake.

1100H: Drive from Issyk -Kul Lake -Fairy Tale Canyon.

1130H: Visit fascinating Fairy Tale Canyon, where we can explore its unique, colorful rock formations. Afterwards, we will visit the impressive red sandstone cliffs of Jeti Oguz. 

1230H: Drive from Fairy Tale Canyon to Karakol (2 hrs).

1430H: Upon arriving in Karakol, we will explore the city’s cultural heritage by visiting the distinctive Dungan Mosque and the historic Russian Orthodox Church. 

Overnight stay at Karakol.

Day 8 : Karakol → Kegen border →Almaty (Kazakhstan)

0830H: Visit to the Karakol Ski Resort, where one will take the cable car to the highest point for stunning mountain views. 

1130H: Head from Karakol Ski Resort – Kegen border (3 hours drive) for the crossing into Kazakhstan.

1430H: Cross border from Kyrgyzstan- Kazakhstan. Required at least 30 minutes even with no car. **Subject to traffic conditions.

1500H: Continue to Charyn Canyon (1hr 30 mins).

1630H: Explore Charyn Canyon , known for its dramatic “Valley of Castles.” 

1730H: Drive from Charyn Canyon to Almaty city (3 hours drive).

2030H: Arrive Almaty.

Overnight at Almaty.

Day 9 : Almaty – HOME

1000H: Check out hotel.

1000H: Explore Almaty. City tour inculudes visit to Panfilov Park, Zenkov Cathedral, Green Bazaar.

1400H: Take cable car up to Kok Tobe Hill , overlook Almaty city views.

1630H: Check in at Almaty airport

1900H: Flight departs Almaty.

Uzbekistan is truly blessed with extraordinary tourism treasures — from its rich Silk Road history and stunning Islamic architecture to vibrant culture, bustling bazaars, and some of the warmest, most welcoming people you will ever meet. Every city tells a story, and every encounter leaves a lasting impression.

Kyrgyzstan absolutely lived up to the hype! From its dramatic landscapes to its warm, welcoming people and surprisingly smooth travel experience, this country truly impressed me. Don’t judge a destination before you see it for yourself. Kyrgyzstan is simply amazing!

Kazakhstan truly amazed me in the best way possible. Surrounded by snow-capped mountains and lush greenery, the city feels both vibrant and peaceful. Nature is never far away here, with stunning landscapes just a short drive from the city. Almaty is definitely one of those places that leaves you wanting to come back again!
