How do one get going to plan for Australia Road Trip?

1) Firstly, like any overseas trip, list down the major town/cities you would want to visit for the trip? How many days will you be spending for the trip?

2) What are your objectives? Is it to relax by travelling at a slower pace or you would love to cover as much as possible major tourist attractions? Most towns or attractions are a must see for tourist. Thus, all the more you should really prioritise which are the major one you would want to visit.

3)  Buy the international air tickets segment. Often, it will be very expensive if one arrival and departure city are different for international segment. (determine if you should buy domestic sector as well, a good option is to buy domestic 1 way back to the origin departure city and then fly back to your own country)

4) Ask for quotations from car rental companies. Look out for discount on various car rental website. Some major rental car companies in Australia:

Most rental car companies in Australia offers heavily discounted one way special price if you assist to drive the car back from one city to another township. Do early reservation of cars/camper vans to save costs as well.

Always include the rental of GPS as it will be much easier to navigate around the country roads. It doesn’t cost much after all , averagely AUD$10 per day.

5) Calculate driving distance between towns. As a general rule of thumb, try not to travel more than 450km in one day. Drive less than 5 hours a day to fully enjoy the country.
