Sicily hits you with everything at once — colourful streets, dramatic coastlines, ancient buildings, lively markets and that unmistakable Italian charm. Then comes the food. Fresh. Simple. Ridiculously good. Every street feels like a discovery. Every meal becomes part of the memory.

Sicily is not just a place you visit — it is a place you feel. I had just 3 days and 2 nights to experience it, so I kept things simple:
Malta → Catania → Palermo → Singapore. Here is exactly how I did it.
DAY 1 : MALTA → POZZALLO → CATANIA
1800H: Ferry from Malta to Sicily. The journey starts in Malta. The ferry does not go directly to Catania. The Malta–Pozzallo route takes approximately 1 hour 45 minutes, arriving in southeastern Sicily.
1945H: Arrive Pozzallo. After arriving at Pozzallo Port, I continued by road towards Catania. Pozzallo → Catania
Approximately is 127km / 2 hours 15 minutes.
2215H: Arrive Catania. A late arrival, so it was straight to the hotel for a good night’s rest.
Overnight: Catania

DAY 2: CATANIA → PALERMO
This was the day to experience two sides of Sicily in one day.
0800H: Explore Catania. I started with Catania’s historic centre, exploring mainly on foot.
– Catania Cathedral
– Piazza del Duomo
– Fontana dell’Amenano
– Catania Fish Market

The best part? Just walking around. The old streets, Baroque architecture, local market atmosphere and little cafés make Catania feel very authentic. And yes… I made time for the food.

1210H: After checking out from the hotel, it was a short transfer to the FlixBus pick-up point.
1245H: Catania → Palermo. It was time to sit back and watch Sicily go by.
1515H: Arrive and explore Palermo. After checking in, there was still time to explore Palermo. No complicated itinerary. Just walk, wander and take in the city.

Overnight: Palermo

Palermo immediately felt different from Catania — grander architecture, colourful streets, historic buildings and a completely different energy. This is where I realised that Sicily is not just one experience. Catania and Palermo each have their own personality.

DAY 3 : PALERMO → SINGAPORE
0925H: Depart Palermo
And just like that, my short Sicily adventure came to an end. Three days. Two cities.
One unforgettable taste of Sicily.

CAN YOU DO SICILY IN 3D2N?
Yes , if you keep it focused. This was not about trying to see the entire island. Instead, I chose two cities:
Catania — historic centre, markets, architecture and local atmosphere.
Palermo — history, architecture, street life and food.
The route also worked well as an extension from Malta: Malta → Pozzallo → Catania → Palermo.
No internal flights. Just ferry + coach + plenty of walking. It was fast-paced, but it gave me a taste of what makes Sicily so special.
I came for the scenery. I stayed for the food. I left wanting more.
Sicily — you really have to see it to believe it!
